Tuesday's Homekeeping Routine

Here is the Tuesday Homekeeping Routine (vintage) and you'll want to refer to Monday's Routine for a detailed list of how to "straighten" most rooms. It is more than just putting things away and it always begins with opening a window to air the room.

Tuesday Morning

• Breakfast (and prepare school lunches).
• Start a load of laundry for the day. Skip this if you do all your laundry on Mondays.
• Straighten living-room; sweep porches and walks.
• Straighten dining-room. 
• Wash breakfast dishes and straighten kitchen.
• Plan meals and make market list.
• Make beds and straighten bedrooms. 
• Straighten bathroom. (See detailed list below).
• Start weekly task, which may be clean one room thoroughtly.
• Prepare and serve luncheon.

Tuesday Afternoon

• Wash dishes, tea towels, and finish laundry load for the day.
• Finish weekly task.
• Start early preparations for dinner (if needed).
• Iron light home laundry or other pressing.
• Time-out for anything you want.

Bathroom Checklist (20 minutes)

1. Pick up and fold towels and hang neatly on racks, or put out fresh ones.
2. Wipe out soap dishes and see that there is plenty of toilet paper and a clean glass.
3. Straighten out shower curtain.
4. Wipe off mirrors.
5. Clean tub, commode and wash basin. (I use baking powder, dawn dish soap, and lemon oil to clean all.)
6. Wipe up floor if necessary.
7. Ventilate bathroom, if necessary. (Open a windown.)
