Dear Mothers, My name is Renee Metzler and I am a wife, mother of 4, and educator. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, English through Bloomsburg University, Pa. I'm passionate about curriculum, lesson planning, and teaching. I hope you will be blessed by our Charlotte Mason-Inspired family together curriculum ordered around 2 cycles of history with the Bible as the foundation. Each program of study includes a booklist (what to teach), a schedule (when to teach it), and a teacher guide (how to teach it), plus I share a free homeschool planner for staying organized and all about motherhood and how to teach on the blog.
A Mother's Way Is Beautiful ![]() s mothers, we have a beautiful way we can educate our children at home: with the liberal arts, living books, and a peaceful schedule, all to inspire a love of learning. We utilize free old-fashioned living books and textbooks from the 1800-1900's because they are beautifully illustrated, not dumbed down, do not contain political propaganda, and are in the free domain.
A Liberal Education for All ![]() Charlotte Mason believed all children should have access to a liberal education - meaning broad and plentiful. Our booklists use mostly free old-fashioned books, as we found expensive doesn't mean better. It makes a liberal arts education, not just affordable for all, but free!
Living Books You don't need a degree to be a great teacher. Just read great books! I never heard my children complain about listening to a good story! Yet, they learn so much. If you are struggling with homeschool burnout, drop the boring textbooks and endless worksheets, and try living books - a good story by a single author. My first two children are now adults and still love great books - the classics.
Peaceful Schedule You don't need a lot of time to teach many grades. Take at look at your peaceful morning schedule in 3 lessons per day - that's one lesson per program (except prep-level which is just one lesson daily). By keeping short lessons, the children enjoy a broad feast of studies. We share our program of study here as a free service to other homeschooling parents.
