Welcome to Old Fashioned Education's FREE online K-12 curriculum -
-a family together program of study in 3 lessons per day. Before you begin, please read the introduction and license agreement. ![]() t Old Fashioned Education you’ll find a gentle Charlotte Mason-Inspired family together curriculum ordered around 2 cycles of history with the Bible as the foundation. Each program of study includes a booklist (what to teach), schedule (when to teach it), teacher guide (how to teach it). I also share mom time devotionals and how we homeschool on the blog. We utilize free old-fashioned living books and textbooks from the 1800-1900's, that are beautifully illustrated, not dumbed down, do not contain political propaganda, and are in the free domain.
A Liberal Education for All ![]() Charlotte Mason believed all children should have access to a liberal education - meaning broad and plentiful. Our booklists use mostly free old-fashioned books, as we found expensive doesn't mean better. It makes a liberal arts education, not just affordable for all, but free!
Living Books You don't need a degree to be a great teacher. Just read great books! I never heard my children complain about listening to a good story! Yet, they learn so much. If you are struggling with homeschool burnout, drop the boring textbooks and endless worksheets, and try living books - a good story by a single author. My first two children are now adults and still love great books - the classics.
Peaceful Schedule You don't need a lot of time to teach many grades. We have a peaceful morning schedule in 3 lessons per day - that's one lesson per program per day. For prep-level, it's just one lesson. By keeping short lessons, the children enjoy a broad feast of studies.
We share our program of study here as a free service to other homeschooling parents. |
Here's an overview chart.

How Do You Teach 3 Lessons per day?
First, we group several subjects into each program of study. You will not study every subject every day, but instead the subjects are spread throughout the week. Next, we made programs 1 and 2 family together with grade-level assignments. Do 3 lessons per day (1 per program) for a complete curriculum. See how it works.
